The kids are back to school this week.
So I ditched life this afternoon.
But it wasn’t to do this…
I drove here.

and I geared up. I can’t ever go anywhere without my Christopher Fave Leaders
and these are my new favorite ‘Mitten Scissor Clamps‘ from LOON.
I realized while I was driving that I had forgotten socks. I HATE wearing waders without socks. I was in luck — my daughter left these beauties in the back of the car. Heehee. The other thing I was reminded of today is that I hate wearing jeans under my waders. It’s hard to move around and I felt so yucky and sweaty by the time I was done fishin’

Peace, quiet — a lovely day on the water in the sunshine
and success!

FYI if you wanted to know. Someone stole some of my pics recently, so I’ve started tagging them.
Who? Call out a #twitlynch and let us go to war for you!
You’re a fighter! I got it, no worries!
It’s all about living in the moment! (And choosing that while fishing isn’t bad either!)
Thx Tanya!
Ahhhhhhh I am very envious! I also dislike the jeans under the waders for the exact same reason(s). I hope to escape on Friday, but if the heat does not break I might be forced to pass on an all day affair.
I hope it cools off for you Jen!
It doesn’t look like it will, but that is ok! I am ditching life tomorrow all day!
Nice brown! What lamewad steals someone else’s pics, anyways?
Thx! Still be to determined, but yes, lame!
Very jealous!!
Ditched life? Au contraire. You embraced life. Good for you.
Mike, you are always so eloquent. Yes, I embraced it!
Beautiful country to fish, all the best gear to take with and wild trout to fish for. This is Your Life!
Rod – we all need to embrace our lives and live the way that makes us happy!
So true Jen. It get easier to fall into the daily rut than climb out of it and enjoy life. Thnx for reminding me about embracing Life, not just existing in it. Pax!
Love Christopher Fave leaders.. Even more than those awesome socks.
Me too Ed. Me too.
Sick socks! Id sport em!
Austin, be careful what you say!!
Shorts under waders is the only way to go.
Usually I wear my Patagonia or North Face quick dry pants or shorts….so. much. better. than yucky jeans!
Fave leaders are nice I like 12′ for Spey. I like your blog as seems fun not so stuffy. Gotta love improvising.
I have yet to try Spey – but I’ll keep the 12′ in mind! Thx John for the nice comment!
Sounds like you embraced life and ditched everything else
I certainly try to do it as often as I can get away with.
A little “mental floss” is good for what ails you!
Fishing is truly my therapy!
You sure have come a long way from early 2012. You’re slaying fish every time out!
Nice work.
Thx Will. Long time no see – hope your fishing adventures are going well my friend.
Nice job getting outside. I try to do it any chance I get! Unfortunately, with school starting back, I will be working more than fishing.
Aww…well just do what you can!
I love the fact that you live close enough to trout to ditch life for the afternoon to spend time with them!
Mandy, I love that they’re close enough to get to. I never want to leave Colorado!
just go in your skivees under the waders ,jeans can make holes in your waders those little metal buttons rub on th waders and wear holes in them
Good thinking and point taken Mike.
I agree with Mike’s comment. You left all the things that keep you from grabbing hold of life and all its beauty and dove into all that is good. Plus the socks are pretty cute. lol
and now you know why I started fishing in the first place – it brings so much good into my life. The socks…well…lol
*two thumbs up*
Jen, you were the smart one here. Ditching life and just doing what makes you feel good has its place. BTW, I hate jeans under waders, too! Those scissor clamps look like the “reel” deal to me.
Thanks Mel. If you’re looking for a new pair, consider these – I really like them!
Life is better with wet lines and bent rods, even it means you gotta feel “yucky” from wearing jeans under your waders.
Touche’ Josh. I did what I had to do!
I used to fish because it was a fun thing to do. While it’s still obviously fun, it has become more of an escape/sanity break from the daily grind. Keep up the good work and I’m glad to see your daughter is recovering!
Thank you Wayne!
I am pnly mildly jealous but that is because I have two awsome trips planned for the next month and last weekend I managed to fish 3 different rivers on the same day.
Tight lines.
B.
sp error….mildly jealous
sheesh

My daughter starts school next week~ I am beside myself. I went out fishing this past weekend, and for the first time, forgot my wading socks- or any socks at all. I put on my Simms and went anyway. I will always have a spare pair of socks in my Jeep. Tight lines!
I do have to say I like those witch socks. I agree, I cant stand wearing jeans when wading too. Sweet clamp. Nice brown!
Although all my kids aren’t going back to school this year as they graduated – one is at college, one is going in the National Guard and one is looking for a job, I hope to be looking for tight lines this weekend. I will need to pilfer those scissor clamps from my fishing buddy BFF/;BF though, at least until I get my own (am liking those in your pics!). As far as undergarments for the waders, I prefer my runnign shorts and tanks during the summer. As I have yet to fish in the winter, and I like to stay really warm, I’ll have to seek out suggestions to do so. And at least your borrowed some really cool socks that are in season!
Live, Love, Flyfish…
I’d love to ditch life for a day or two right now myself – I can hear the stream calling…
Season opens on the rivers here this weekend – woo!
Awesome Post ; )
Love the pics!
I had one of those days a couple weeks ago, too bad they don’t happen more often! My daughter just started kindergarten a few days ago and for the first time in a long while I’m taking some time off from the military. I’ve got the next 10 days off, hope to squeeze in a day or two on the water.
Looks like a great day. I need to try those Christopher fave leaders some day soon.
I hate waders period water has to be near freezing, but then again I feesh TX
Were we on the same river? It sure looks like it. I apologize for not calling you. I got side tracked. But that (not to be named) river was beautiful. Thanks for the tip. Until we meet… tight lines.
Well I was on this river on Thursday and again on Sunday. Great place isn’t it. No worries about not calling – we both obviously made it to the destination anyhow
I’ll have to try those leaders.
did you ditch this week?
Not yet Chris. Not YET!!
this weekend
me and some kayak fishing fools will be stickin a few reds.. testing out my poppin shrimp fly
Hoping to ditch life for a little while this weekend. Desperately need some peace and quiet!
Crossing my fingers you get the peace and quiet you need!
