And Whoa… I’m totally married.
It’s been a crazy wild ride the last few months and I’m loving it!
I don’t have any ‘official photographer’ pics of the big day back yet –
but I’ll share some personal shots with you if you’d like.
Just a few I caught on my iphone. This was me on my way up to Bear Creek.
That is where Zach and I had our first date,
so we decided to have our ceremony there.
Awww.
This is our little family. What a beautiful morning it was -The fish were rising behind us — heehe!
(thx for the pic Josh Hansen)
My sweetie had our gear rigged up and ready to go.AS SOON as the ceremony was over we had our rods in our hands
AND the fish-off began.
The bets were on. Who would catch the first fish – Zach or Jen?
You can see my man trying really hard to catch those fishies.(I was too)
They were certainly being a pain in the butt.
It probably didn’t help that these little turkeys of ourswere totally splashing in the water and making lots of noise.
I’m not sure what it means for our future,
I am no reader of cards or any sort like that…
but I’ll admit we totally left skunked – devoid of any fish that morning.
Although we did have a TON of fun ‘fishing’ (not catching)
with family and friends surrounding us
and cheering us on.
and just because I promised Zach’s buddies we’d let them know…We did go fishing the next day after the wedding.
Zach caught the first fish (and his only for the day)…well, he hooked a Rainbow
and brought it all the way to his legs and managed to touch it before it got away.
So no evidence. But I did see it with my own eyes.
AND then I caught two of these.
A Perch– see comment below — I thought it was a Smallmouth Bass…
Nonetheless, a new species for me from a lake I fish often.
That’s always fun.
I feel great, life is wonderful and I’m back in the swing of things!Love, Jen

Aunt Karen & Uncle Bob
Thank you Aunt Karen and Uncle Bob – I hope you’re doing well. I’m glad you’re ‘keeping up’ on the blog
Congrats again to the whole clan
Thanks Robert!
Congrats again Jen and Zach, and just as an fyi, that last fish isnt a smallmouth bass, that would be a perch
oohhh Brad, is it really?! How can you tell? A different friend told me it was a smallmouth, but I’m totally in need of some edumacation when it comes to identifying anything but trout.
markings and mouth line, as well as eyes are completely different on a smallmouth bass vs a yellow perch
Body shape as well, smallmouth is much taller in the body with broad shoulders, perch is streamlined like a walleye
Thanks Brad!
what can i say, we all love fish, I have a lot more perch over by me than you….although, a nice big smallmouth on a fly rod is a blast!
Congratulations guys,
Looks like you had a blast – wishing success and wealth, health and happiness.
We get perch similar to those here in our dams too, they are almost a noxious species – ours have bright red fins and are called English Perch very good eating luckily.
I tie a fly for the smelters called a Tom Jones (slim olive rabbit dub with black squirrel tail and olive kangaroo fur “wings”) – very succesful when tied with an additional red tag (tail) to mimic redfin fry in our Central Highlands storages.
Probably my go to fly this time of year while the rivers are closed. Might send you a “care package”/cum “wedding present” next time I am tieing a few.
Cheers!
Nice!! Its like you caught each other!!;)
Congratulations Jen and Zach! In the great words of a close friends : “Tight lines always”
P.s. I called it on the fish species(;
crazy idea!
Congrats! While my wedding this summer didn’t involve fishing, it was on the water, which is always a beautiful backdrop.
