I think any review needs a quick introduction, so here’s mine. According to the boys who put together NSA, I would be a “sport” in every sense of the word, I know just enough to be dangerous. I truly enjoy being on the water any chance I can get. I fished 4-5 times a week when I was a younger man, but as I got married and had some children I find less time to fish. All in all, I don’t feel at all qualified to “review” anything fishing related, but hey I won so here it goes.

 

NSA Volume 1
Mark Crapo is one crazy man, but I have to admit, it’s just plain fun to watch him fish. I had heard prior to watching the DVD’s that they were a little slow, but I really liked them! I guess I have just been wishing for any fishing related activity that I enjoyed every second. The music was ok, not totally my style but still good and now I find myself looking to save up for an X series skiff. They got that thing into some amazing water that I don’t think your average drifter could. The family theme was also fun to watch, having children of my own possibly makes me feel this way, but the idea of tradition was cool. I often take my kids out and I hope that is a passion I can pass along to them. My 2 little ones watched volume 1 with me and throughly enjoyed watching the boys fish.

 

NSA Volume 2
The scenes about the secret portage were truly amazing, I am not sure the location but a trip like this is now on my list. The music video was lackluster for me, but again, I get the general feel they were going for. Volume 2 was a little better to me than volume 1, but again it’s more of the same. Some folks might find it repetitive, but I enjoyed the takes, sometimes rewinding to make sure I got every one. The overall experience of both films did one thing really well, it made me want to get out and fish and this earned the DVDs a 5 out of 5 stars!
 
NSA Volume 3 – Sneak Peek
I can’t wait for the release of volume 3, it will be epic!
