In the words of Kyle P.
“Fishing was great today, but the catching wasn’t so good.”
Amen.
We set out to throw streamers – my first time.
When we arrived the fish were popping like corn on the surface.
I ended up trying 1/2 the dry flies in my box with no luck.
I couldn’t tell what they were feeding on – whatever it was – it was tiny.
I was going for skunk.
This little guy finally took pitty
on a blue midge.
Thanks brownie brown brown trout.

You get those days sometimes. I tell people fly fishing is like golf. You don't have to catch fish to enjoy it. As a matter of fact, fly fishing is much better than golf, as I'm pretty sure golfers have no chance of catching a fish.
Learn the streamer game, it's the best.
i experienced the same exact thing yesterday morning! had one hooked on a caddis emerger but never made it to the net, and that was it. risers all around me, but fickle as the day is long! oh well that is why they call it 'fishing' and not 'catching!' its always good to get out though. i do believe i could post a similar venture on my blog. although it was nice to see a local guide float by with some clients, and they seemed to have better luck than i, so the skunk was on my back only, lol.
Can't beat a day on the water, fish or not…
that being said, it's always better when a fish or two show up
